How are inbound calls handled?

All inbound calls are handled using VoIP instead of your cellular network. This means that Firewall receives calls through an internet connection like cellular data or Wi-Fi.

Since Firewall is handling inbound and outbound calls, the app needs microphone access in order for the calls to work. Under no circumstances are these calls or any audio ever recorded.

The microphone is only used for the duration of inbound calls and outbound calls that are made explicitly through Firewall. Want to use your cellular network for calls? Just use the switch to cell feature.
